EME (Earth-Moon-Earth) or more popular called Moonbounce has been a way to communicate via radiosignals for many years, it was even tried out for telecommunications, but it never got really good because the delayed signals from the Moon (2.5-3 sec).

USA military has used it and now, the radioamateurs used it with good result sometimes.        ;-)).

We use large ant-system with high performance and low-noise preamps because the distance is very long.

There is a middledistance of 450 000 km or 280 000 miles to the Moon and the radiosignals are very weak when they come back to the earth

It is necessary to have large antennas, but however, some fellows do a good job with smaller antennas too, single yagi or 2 antennas.

And, to get more success, they need to have larger antennas and they also use highpower ampl.

I use 144 Mhz for my "bouncing" but almost all frequencies are possible. Up today I think, I have had contacted with 560 differents radiostations in the world by EME.

This is, really, an exciting part of my hobby !
