What about three stunningly  alike Volvo cars but with three different qualities!

The ordinary S70 2.5 "Svensson" car, the racer S70R and the last years SM-winner the 850 Racing. (Also been driven in the BTCC).  These cars was gathered at the Scandinavian Raceway in Anderstorp Sweden for equal and different signs to be revealed.

The equal signs between the tree cars are only the engine block everything else is diffrent. The Super Touring car has got an 2.0 litre engine that is placed very low in the car to make itīs weight distibition as equal as possible. The rules provides a revolution stop at 8.500 rpm wich is a very suitable rpm in racing but the engine still produces 300 hp.

The S70R that produces 250 hp is a very fast standard car and itīs acceleration from 0-100 km/h (0-62mp/h) is as low as under 7 seconds and itīs top speed is equal itīs horsepower. Very impressive and cutting brakes plus huge tires but still itīs inpossible to  make to track round Scandinaviam Raceway quicker than 2:13:1 with the S70R. This does not tell how slow this car is it only tells how fast the racing car is with the time 1:48.1. The Volvo S70 2.5 needs a few more seconds with the time 2:23.5 all because the lack of power.

The S70 2.5 feels really slow on the  straight and itīs on the end the 4:th gear is used and then the speed is only 158 km/h compered to the S70R with 238 km/h, Speeds that had been even higher if the road had been drier. Remarkably the 2.5 is faster than the R trough the corners and thats only bacause itīs tires is more suitable for rainy roads on dry roads though the R is much more quicker in the corners.

These facts shows even clearer how a proffessional team in this case TWR can change an ordinary Swedish car from Hisingen into a pure racecar.

850 BTCC: 300 hp
S70R: 250 hp
S70 2.5: 144 hp
