COERCION - "Delete", CD, Perverted taste
Like in every issue of Chaos Magazine there's a "last minute" review. This
time it's COERCION's second
longplayer called "Delay", aah... of course "Delete", hehe. Their debut
album "Forever Dead" already
impressed me a lot, but "Delete" is a real progression compared to the
predecessor. If you're into fast and
brutal Swedish old school death metal with a pinch of melodies in the vein
of early EDGE OF SANITY, then
you'll love this album. Great riffs, insane drumming and a strong
production make "Delete" an essential item
in your record collection. If you don't believe my words, just take a
listen into the title track, which is also
featured on our compilation-CD! A refreshing album!
Grade: 8 out of 10.

COERCION "Forever Dead" (Perverted Taste, P.T.021)
UHHHH.. Excuse me while I grasp for air!.. Sorry about that but to
listen to this band at high volume is like getting a round-kick in the
stomach. Yes indeed, this is brutality in it’s pure form and I was
highly surprised to hear such a brutal piece of music from a Swedish
band in 1997. Coercion offers us a very solid death metal album, I will
even go as far as calling it one of the best brutal death metal
releases of 1997. Coercion isn’t all that fast, instead the keyword here
is brutality and the heaviness is neck-breaking. All in all a great
death metal album which is blessed with one of the best productions
ever to emerge from the Unisound studios.

COERCION - "Forever dead", promo-CD, Perverted taste
By Micke Skala
A new band from Stockholm have just released their debut CD, and on that
album they’re performing the noble art called death metal. After all,
that’s what Sweden’s capitol is known for around the world; delivering
qualitative death metal. Considering they’ve managed to make an almost
one hour long album that doesn’t get boring, I’d say that "Forever dead"
is a huge success, and the fact that this is a debut makes me
impatiently awaiting album number 2 (which they are getting prepared to
record). "Forever dead" was recorded by Dan Swanö at Unisound and that
should make you figure out the quality of this recording. I think that
they are best in the slower parts, where they get really heavy, butthey
sure know how to play with the speed of the light too. "Forever dead"is
not distributed in Sweden, so you’ll have to get in touch with the label
to obtain it. Check out their homepage at: http://home1.swipnet.se/~w-15609/

Embodying the Swedish death metal sound made famous by bands like
Entombed and Dismember, Coercion execute some stylish metal here by
mixing faster and slower tempos while injecting more than a few
interesting riffs. Signing to Perverted Taste after a failed record
deal with House of Kicks, _Forever Dead_ is the debut for their new
label, and a rather impressive one, I must say. Combining elements of
early Entombed, Fleshcrawl and even some latter-day Gorefest,
Coercion are able to avoid the tag of ripping off a sound made
popular years ago. Production by Dan Swano at his Unisound Studio
(presumably one of his last productions) accounts for the good sound
on this disc. My only problem with _Forever Dead_ was with the last
track, "Grief (Beyond Grief)", a 23-minute track which contains 10
minutes of clock chiming (???). Anyhow, in the end that leaves you
with 40 minutes of Swedish death metal worth listening to.

Brutal death metal från Stockholm? Japp.
i Kenneth Nyman. Detta är tolv låtar för lovers of the extreme, så gilla!
Jag råkar veta vad medlemmarna svarade på frågan om de har några hobbyband:
"Nej, vi satsar allt på COERCION." De ska hyllas. Death metal lever!
