Don Johanson tells
Being the son of Swedish immigrants, and having a Olympic Gold Medalist for an uncle (Ivar Johansson), I have always had a strong interest in knowing more about my Swedish ancestors. A few years ago I had the great fortune of being in touch with Anders Köhler for assistance in tracing my roots.
We met up in Norrköping and over a few couple of days we were able to establish my ancestry back to the 17th Century and actually visited parishes and cemetaries where ancient relatives had lived and were buried. It was a thrilling and deeply rewarding experience for me that more firmy than ever reinforced my deep connection to Sweden.
But...
Even more exciting was the discovery that Anders and I are distantly related and descended from a common ancestor Anders Qwarfort who lived in the early 17th Century.
I enjoyed every moment of my time with Anders who is deeply knowledgeable and curious about so many things. I consider myself very fortunate to have met and worked with Anders Kohler and to this day we remain in contact. I highly recommend him to anyone interested in tracing their Swedish origins.
