Self biography of Tobias Ljunggren
I was born in Visby, Gotland, on the 20th of May 1977. Raised by my parents together with my younger sister on the country side.
I went to elementary school for nine years. After elementary school I decided to attend the three-year economics education in high school. There we ran a company, a café as a youth-company project.
After high school I worked as a baker at Västerhejdebagarn. I also worked as a special-, and substitute-teacher in my old school Roma. In August 1998 I entered the mandatory military service as a Military Police at K1 in Stockholm. In December 1998 I received letters that I had been granted a position in the Westwind Aviation Academy in Phoenix including student-loan which was the only chance for me to educate myself to my dream work, pilot! The Swedish Government was in progress to get rid of studentloans for abroad pilot-education’s, so I saw my chance and took it. I interrupted my Military Service and went to the United States of America.
1998, when established in the States I enrolled my Pilot-training at Westwind Aviation Academy. At W.A.A I took my Private- and Instrument-pilots licence. After a lot of trouble with the School (financial), I switched to a better school. At Arizona Aviation they took well care of business and educated me to a Commercial-, Multi-Engine pilot. In October 1998 I enrolled Ameriflights First-Officer program Part 135 with the Beechcraft 1900. I Had training and passed my checkride. Once I finished training I was relocated from Burbank, L.A to San Antonio, Texas. We flew both domestic and international flights to Mexico. Primarily we flew freight and carparts for DHL, UPS and FEDEX. Ameriflight is the largest Part 135 operator in the USA.
Home in Sweden again I contacted Luftfartsverket at Visby Airport, and was hired as a ramp-technitian. I worked there from April 1999 to August 1999. In July 1999 I enrolled Lid-Air’s module-conversion course, including CPL, IR and ATPL-theory. Classes started first on the 1st of September 1999. March 10th 2000 I started technical course for PA31 "Navajo" at TFHS in Ljungbyhed. There I conducted flight training for CPL, IR. -Multiengine. The flight training was ended positively by the CAA-checkride the 30th of March. The 15th of April I enrolled the MCC-course at SAS Flight Academy and was finished on the 30th of April. I was finished with my written ATPLs, last exam on the 16th of May.
Being dedicated to the aviation profession and giving priority to safety, I consider myself to be a good pilot. I hope my qualities can be of asset to your company.
